MovieFest Trust announces registrations open for 2008 nationwide Short
Movie Competition

WELLINGTON - June 6, 2008—The MovieFest Charitable Trust announced
today that registrations for the 2008 MovieFest Short Movie
Competition are now being accepted.

“This is the fourth time the MovieFest nation-wide short movie
competition that is designed to showcase the creativity of New Zealand
movie makers has been held. There will be three entry categories of
primary schools, secondary schools and amateurs or hobbyists and for
the first time this year, there will be a separate section in each
category for animated movies”, said Graeme Moffatt, a trustee of the
Moviefest Charitable Trust.

“Entrants will need to produce a short three to five minute movie on a
specific subject and entrants will have eight weeks to produce their
movie”.

Mr Moffatt went on to say that the topic for this years competition
will be announced on Monday 4 August and entrants will have until 3
October to complete their movie.

The judging format will be the same as last year to ensure all
entrants have an equal chance of getting their movie into the final
selection. All movies will be preselected at a national level and the
best three movies in each section of the three categories will be
appraised by a panel of judges who are all seasoned professionals in
the film and video industries. There will be prizes for each of the
finalists with the best overall movie receiving a special award.

Public screenings will be held in the Expressions Theatre in Upper
Hutt on Friday 7th and Saturday 8th November and an Awards Ceremony
will take place at on the Saturday afternoon at the conclusion of the
screenings.
