I would love to show it on the big screen as I thought the story had
potential - but I think it's still on original mini DVD-RW media as
it wasn't selected for the 9 top regional finalists. This means I
don't have a copy handy, but Graeme will possibly - biggest problem
with it was we all have slot loading drives, and the mini DVDs get
lost. ;)
It will be screened in the grand finals - on 30th September - along
with the others that didn't make it to a regional. One more reason
to beg, borrow or buy a ride to Wellington for that weekend. Viewers
choice will be taken there too!
So what was the title of your movie? "No Name (The Lesson)"? I
recall it was filmed in a windy spot on top of a hill - and the
director ended up shooting the whole film. Interesting story - but
wind noise and other things ended up making it miss out on a regional
spot.
Tomorrow I'm also attending a non-judged screening at St Johns - the
producers of the yet unseen "J Unit and the Smiling Buddha Gang" - at
8pm in Wellington (details below). Should be packed, as are the
official ones. The bonus with the offical ones is you get to meet our
judges, and maybe have a word with them about your movies. Bring
your friends as well - to make sure you take away the viewers choice
prize.
"Opening Night" an Auckland secondary team took away a couple of
prizes this afternoon in Hamilton - and were pretty happy to have a
word with the judges. Good to have you there!

So yeah.. That was the Northern Regional Final. "Teachers Code" from
Point View School took out the northern region for primary, "Opening
Night" the secondary, and the clay-mation movie "The Room" just bet
the Furry Mammals's "Here Endeth the Lesson" for Hobbyist northern
regional finalist. These three movies go through the to final
judging for the top honours - along with the 3 from the Southern
Region, and the Central 3. When I get the voting results from the
Auckland screening, i'll add them in to the overall viewers choice.
Online voting soon!
So the Central Regional final... It's at Time Cinema - at 10am and
hourly including 2pm. Tea and coffee will be available if you arrive
late and have to wait for the next screening, or just want to chat
with me ;) Booking essential - as there is limited space. Time
Cinema is a great venue tho - plenty of interesting film stuff there.
Bookings to bookings at moviefest.org.nz - there is a cost - but you
get 50% off if you're an entrant.
"The Central Regional Final will be held at the Time Cinema in
Sutherland Road in Lyall Bay, Wellington on Sunday 27th August.
Screenings will commence at 10:00am and will run hourly until 2pm.
There is a cost of $4 per adult, $2 per child and $10 for a family of
five and registered teams to MovieFest will get a 50% discount off
this price. "
See you there! I'll be there after church (about 12), and i'll have
my young son Lliam with me too - he's been loving your movies!
Additional St Johns Screening (Central finalists)
"Screening will be at 8pm, Sunday 27th August in the St Johns Conference
Centre, Wellington.
Contact number Alice or Ross 385 9549/0274975227
St Johns is on the corner of Dixon and Willis St, in town. We will be
having
the service and screening in the Conference Center, which is through the
courtyard and behind the church. Its really easy to find...just
follow the
lights!"
