The MovieFest Charitable Trust is now accepting registrations for the 2008 MovieFest Short Movie competition and invite you to enter this exciting and worthwhile competition.

This is the fifth time the MovieFest nation-wide short movie competition has been held. The event is designed to showcase the creativity of New Zealand movie makers, in entry categories of primary schools, secondary schools, amateurs or home hobbyists and includes an animation section in each category for the first time this year.

Entrants will once again need to produce a short three to five minute movie on a specific subject as outlined in our rules <http://www.moviefest.org.nz/guidelines.php> and entrants will have eight weeks to produce their movie.

The winners of each of the categories will receive a prize package supplied by a range of sponsors and the runners up will also receive prizes. The judging format will be the same as last year to ensure all entrants have an equal chance of getting their movie into the final selection. All movies will be appraised at a national level and the best three in each section of the three categories will be forwarded for final judging.

The topic for this years competition will be announced on Monday 4th August and entrants will have until 3rd October to complete their movie. Public screenings will be held in the Expressions Theatre in Upper Hutt on Friday 7th and Saturday 8th November and the Awards Ceremony will take place at 3:30pm on the Saturday afternoon at the conclusion of the screenings.

To register to enter the competition, please download and fill in the registration form available on our web site <http://MovieFest.org.nz/MovieFest-2008-registration.pdf> (use one form for each movie movie if you wish to enter more than one). Please send off your form(s) to PO Box 40-732, Upper Hutt with your payment of $30 for each movie ($25 if paid by 25th July), you wish to enter. Alternatively, you can fill in the online registration form on our web site and pay your registration fee by online banking or by credit card as detailed on our web page at <http://www.moviefest.org.nz/register>. Once your movie is complete, you will need to supply us details about your movie, however we don?t require any details at this stage.

Still working on finalising the prizes that will be available. We plan to be able to announce them before the registration period ends on the 4th August.

Hi,

Online registration at http://moviefest.org.nz/register just seems to have online bank details.

Can I pay online, and then email you at help@moviefest.org.nz to confirm all my details?

Yes.

You can pay by credit card through Paymate (use the link on the register page) or you can direct credit our bank account and send us an email to advise when you paid.

Hello. I've only just heard about MovieFest. It is only open for people living in or around the Wellington area?
Are all team required to attend the Awards Ceremony? Or just the finalists. Because we live in Rotorua and may have some trouble getting down to Wellington.
Cheers.

Moviefest is a nationwide short movie competition open to anyone provided they meet the registration requirements, ie; not professional moviemakers.

The organisers are based around Wellington hence the final screenings in Upper Hutt. In previous years, many winners from all parts of the country as far north as Auckland and as far south as Dunedin have turned up at the Awards Ceremony and we would encourage anyone who has made it into the finals to do likewise, although this is not required as a condition of entering.

I have not yet seen your registration as it goes to another trustee but provided you've filled in all the spaces, that should be fine.

We look forward to seeing your entry at the appropriate time.
