Things I like about Moviefest:

You have enough time to think about what you're going to make, and to go through a couple of drafts of a script.

You don't have so much time that you procrastinate and fail to get yourself organised.

Hey, there is life in these forums Wink
I was playing, and put them up -- but hadn't got all the accounts converted over from the old one - http://MovieFest.org.nz/forums (lack of an s on these) -- so didn't think they were live.

Topic is "In Retrospect" in case you missed it.

Hi again from MovieFest HQ, we've been a little quiet of late, but here's an update.

This year MovieFest selected 20 movies from over 100 registrants and from them our judges have found the best, which we're proud to bring you, this Saturday 27th in Upper Hutt, Wellington from 10am.

Screenings this Saturday in the Genesis Energy Theatre, Expressions Arts and Entertainment Centre, 836 Fergusson Drive, Upper Hutt will show selected movies from the three categories. Each movie is approximately 5 minutes long or less, with each screening repeating every hour and a half.

Screenings will start at 10:00 am, 11:40 am and 1:30 pm.  Admission is via donation.

After these screenings the awards ceremony will commence at 3:30 pm, and go until 5 pm.  The awards ceremony will present prizes in each of the categories, and the overall prize for the winner of MovieFest 2007. A viewers choice will be selected during the day and awarded as well.  All finalists should make an effort to attend, as who knows what is in the sealed envelopes prepared by the judges, and In the past there have been Oscars to hold... we do apologise for the short notice.
The program will also feature a music video from singer, songwriter Carol Bean who has featured on a number of feature Hollywood films, and also a short animation and tips from Phill Simmons of the SImmons brothers, who are leading animators here in Wellington, on the Kapiti coast. Of note is the Fireworks fantastic in Upper Hutt City - commencing at 5pm.

The following movies will be screened in this order.  Those denoted with a star (*) are non-finalists which were selected for screenings, the others finalist, eligible for judging and up for possible prizes, including video capable Apple iPods, courtesy of the Apple division of Renaissance Ltd

Viewers Choice votes will be taken during the day of screenings, and these will select a viewers choice of the screened movies. Please let us know by return email if you are thinking of attending (which screenings?), and how many in your group, and we'll make sure you get a seat.

If you're travelling to Upper Hutt from Wellington, the Airport or Ferry, you can can a flyer bus, or a train to Upper Hutt station, from there it is a quick walk to the theatre. State Highway 2 turns off to Upper Hutt, and just follow the signs to the Expressions Arts and Entertainment Centre. From the north, you can several routes to Upper Hutt, over the Haywards hill, Rimutakas or Akataruas, or SH2 from Ngauranga. The trip can take 40 mins or so - so do leave plenty of time for your return trip.

If you can't make it, then do try to make contact during the day, we may have the webcam running at http://MovieFest.org.nz/

We couldn't bring you this event without the great support of the Upper Hutt City Council, and the local iSite services.  Amstore this year provided our DVD and CD duplication, and poster printing, while MagnumMac and the Apple division of Renaissance Ltd have provided category prizes.

MovieFest has been running since 2003, with an ambition to support and showcase the upcoming talent New Zealand has to offer.  the MovieFest Charitable Trust was formed in late 2005 to further these goals, and we hope to bring you much more in 2008, with our base of operations once again in the great city of Upper Hutt.
